ZAMBOANGA CITY - Four political coordinators of the administration’s Liberal Party (LP) were wounded in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion late Sunday in Lamitan City, Basilan province.

Lamitan City Mayor Roderick Furigay said they were meeting with the campaign coordinators at the LP headquarters when an unidentified man tossed an IED around 10 p.m. Sunday.

The LP headquarters is located on a lot adjacent to Furigay’s residence in the village of Malinis, Lamitan City.

Furigay, who is in his last term of office, is seeking election for vice-mayor under the LP banner.

Investigation is underway to identify the suspect, said Lamitan City police commander Chief Inspector Almer Ismael. (Bong Garcia)
