THE San Juan Torena Agrarian Reform Cooperative on Saturday, April 4, provided food packs to its members and other residents in Cadiz City.

The farmer-beneficiaries organization assisted by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental – North distributed the relief packs to a total of 70 recipient-households.

These food packs contain five kilograms of rice, three packs of noodles, dried fish and 10 pieces of fresh eggs.

The association, in a statement, said this activity is to address even just for a week the beneficiaries’ struggles of finding their next meals due to loss of income, less mobilization or access to food sources brought about by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Knowing that we are helping others is hugely empowering and, in turn, makes us feel happier and more fulfilled,” it added.

Understanding the need of others despite their scarce resources, officers and members of the cooperative worked together in packing the goods.

For DAR-Negros Occidental I, this is a story of generosity and goodwill.

“It is an inspiring act of kindness among its fellow farmers and farm workers is what we need amid these hard and trying times,” it added.

The San Juan Torena Agrarian Reform Cooperative is composed of 33 member-agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs).

Located in Barangay Caduha-an of the said northern Negros Occidental city, it manages the 61.4223 hectares of land acquired under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp).
