THE Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental is initiating a forum that will underscore the investment opportunities among livestock and poultry commodities in the province.

Dubbed "Livestock and Poultry Commodity Investment Forum," the activity will be held at the Provincial Capitol's Social Hall in Bacolod City tomorrow, March 20.

PVO, which is one of the implementing departments of the Negros First Pro-Agri Development Program (NFPADP), said the forum is open to all local livestock and poultry sector stakeholders.

Aside from investment opportunities, the activity will also discuss the marketing aspect of various commodities including beef cattle, dairy, black pig, free-range chicken, layer and broiler.

Resource speakers per commodity are private practitioners, who are experts in the local livestock and poultry industry.

They have gained success through actual engagement, commitment and sufficient knowledge to ensure development of livestock and poultry commodities, the PVO said.

"The forum will also promote diversification being pushed by the Provincial Government through the NFPADP to achieve a robust agro-fishery sector," it said.

Diversification measures are also positioned to develop a resilient economy as it lessens the province's dependence on sugarcane industry.

It broadens the agro-industrial base and provide for the food and income needs of Negrenses especially in the rural areas, it added. (EPN)
