THE Jerusalem Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association (Jarba) in Cadiz City has received a livelihood loan assistance from the City Government.

The P50,000 in loan assistance, which was turned over in Barangay Jerusalem in Cadiz City recently, will be used by the association in putting up a rice and groceries selling business.

This was through a partnership of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-North with the local government.

Jarba chairperson Rosavilla Fuentebella, in a statement, thanked the DAR and local government for coming together to help them during this crisis.

Fuentebella said the assistance has given them the opportunity to generate income for their association.

"May the convergence of these government agencies be an inspiration to others in realizing that we need each other to pull things through," she added.

Also present in the activity were Cadiz Cooperative Development head Shen Villena, Barangay Captain Jimmy Diosana, and DAR's development facilitator for Jarba Aileen De Gracia.

For its part, DAR-Negros Occidental I said the government continues to push for poverty alleviation, food security and economic sustainability in the rural areas despite the challenges brought by the pandemic.
