TACLOBAN CITY -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Eastern Visayas declared a failure of election in one barangay in Northern Samar province, radio reports said.

The declaration was made after a pump boat carrying election paraphernalia sank off Northern Samar.

The boat, with teachers onboard, was headed for Barangay San Vicente in Catubig, Northern Samar when the incident happened.

No one was reported hurt in the incident.

The Comelec has yet to inform voters in San Vicente as to when the special elections will be held, citing the need for printing of new ballots. (Sunnex)
