He is connected with the Zosa and Quijano Law Office. But Froilan “Jingo” Mayol Quijano Jr. always dreamt of becoming a journalist. His idol? Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr., whose death provided the impetus to dismantle an oppressive regime.

His stint as boxing columnist with Sun.Star Cebu is his first official foray into journalism.

Why boxing? Life is a constant struggle to overcome, and there’s nothing more fundamentally representative of that struggle than a fight between two athletes in their prime—giving their all physically and mentally, laying bare their vulnerability for all the world to witness, says Jingo. To him, there’s nothing more honest than a perfectly placed left hook.
