August celebrators: Fellowship at workplace

Carla N. Canet

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

IT’S good that we found time to gather and partake the food that our celebrators; our business reporter and executive producer of our digital news, Erwin Nicavera as well as our office cashier Leilannie Delgado have prepared for everyone in the office during lunchtime Thursday, August 29.

The editorial and marketing team led by Churchill Aguilar, our editor-in-chief made it a point that the team gathers even for a short period despite the busy schedules and routine chores we were tasked to deliver.

We have a small table at the office and by God’s grace, it was filled with homemade dish, yummy and spicy Adobo, cooked by Erwin’s mother. Another dish by Leilannie and others that were bought from outside through potluck which we shared and enjoyed with simple exchanging of pleasantries.

Nicavera said that “It is always fulfilling to celebrate a day of thanksgiving with people who are not just workmates but also friends and family. Birthday is a celebration of fellowship - a significant event that allows us to share ourselves with our colleagues. It enables us to further strengthen the bond, which is vital in achieving both personal and group goals. I am grateful to find fellows, the SunStar Bacolod people, who have been part of my journey in media. We are all witnesses of how everyone painstakingly worked and helped each other for the good of our company. I am thankful for the few yet true friends who have been in my back as I continue to face the challenges that life has given me. Every day is actually a fellowship day. We do not need to wait for birthdays to celebrate camaraderie and friendship. We just have to open ourselves, we just have to sustain that willingness to offer our hands as it is through unity a goal -- no matter how big it is -- can be achieved.

For Leilannie, it was already something that she should be thankful that another year has been added to her lifespan.

Both celebrators were grateful with the SSB family for spending time with them on their special day.
