Carla N. Canet

CREATIVITY and resourcefulness are a natural trait of Negrense designers as they put together means to promenade their fashion and style of clothing sported by lovely women who joined in the recently wielded Negros Fashion Fest (New Normal Edition) held in separate venues at Robinson's Place Bacolod and SM Bacolod.

Designers from the Cities of Sagay, Bago, Silay, Talisay and Bacolod composed of Carmeli Bantug, president of the Association of Negros Designers; Edwin Benitez, vice president, and members Brylie Hiponia, Jes Dakila, Tia Lacson, Adi Colmenares, Leonard Geraldes and Rennie Braza, and other Bacolod designers Felicity Yulo Bongsky and Jason Dinorog showcased their creations which were flawlessly photographed by the lens' team of SNAP Cartel.

Dwight Rosslyn Morana, Jr., founder of the Association of Negros Designers, organizer and director of the event said, "Negros Fashion Fest is an annual gathering of pioneer fashion designers and models in Negros Occidental. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the organizing this year was different. We opted to have a recorded fashion show and photoshoot for series 1 to avert the gathering of a huge crowd, therefore, they decided to do it in a comfortable and lenient way."

They mounted this in two major malls in Bacolod, namely, SM City Bacolod and Robinsons Place Bacolod.

Also, the masterpieces go with utilizing custom-made facial masks and face shields to showcase the observance of the Covid-19 basic health protocol.

"We are now planning for a live streaming in December for NFF series 2 which will feature more designers," he said.

The models who perfectly wore those clothing lines were Cheyenne Fransz, Kate Escultura, Rigil Lucibar, Arn Young, Cindy Valencia, Roselyn Corilla, Daniella Morelos, Jocelyn Gonzalodo, Frida Monroe, Allen Gigante, Edelyn Roncales, Amely & Vanessa Sebuha, Ika Sagario and Ella Gozon.

Local designers who are also economically affected by the Covid-19 pandemic never ceased to rise again to showcase their designs and styles.
