1 killed, 1 hurt in Bacolod road accident

A MOTORCYCLE passenger died, while its driver was injured in a road accident in Purok Herbabuena, Circumferential Road, Bacolod City Wednesday evening, May 8.

Police identified the fatality as Mark John Lagajeño, 27, of Poblacion 1, Himamaylan City. Injured was John Charlie Sanchez, 25, of Murcia.

Police Captain Rey Tolosa Jr., chief of Police Station 4, said Sanchez was driving his Honda motorcycle with his back rider Lagajeño around 8:30 p.m.

Sanchez and Lagajeño were travelling from Campuestohan resort and upon reaching Purok Herbabuena, they overshoot beside the road.

Tolosa said the motorcycle climbed the side-gutter and hit the store in the area.

Both riders fell beside the gutter and sustained serious injuries.

Lagajeño died on the spot, while Sanchez was brought to Bacolod Doctors Hospital.

Tolosa said Sanchez was over-speeding and was observed to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

He reminded the motorists to refrain from driving while under the influence of liquor to avoid untoward incidents.
