A MAN died, while his female friend was injured after they were shot by an unidentified assailant in Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, Bacolod City around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 14.

Police Lieutenant Andy Ofalia, deputy commander of Police Station 2, identified the victim as “alias Chris” of Barangay Mansilingan, while the injured person was identified as “alias Loraine” of Talisay City.

Ofalia said the victims were inside their rented house in Purok Lampirong when the lone gunman fired at Loraine.

Chris tried to escape, but the gunman followed and shot him, too, he said.

He sustained a gunshot wound on his head that resulted in his immediate death.

Loraine was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound on her forehead.

Police investigators recovered from the scene of a crime a slug of .38 caliber revolver.

Ofalia said there is a possibility that the suspect could be known to the victims. There was a commotion inside the boarding house before the incident, he said.

The police are looking into the possibility that the killing was triggered by a grudge.

Ofalia said they already have the identity of the perpetrator but he refused to provide further details since the investigation is ongoing.

The police are also establishing the relationship between the two victims. None of their families have so far surfaced.
