168 persons arrested for violating health protocols

A TOTAL of 168 persons in Bacolod City were arrested by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) for violating health protocols in the campaign against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) from July 7 to 8, 2020.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Thursday the violators were arrested by personnel of Police Stations 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 10 for not wearing face masks and not observing physical distancing.

He said on June 7, a total of 83 violators were arrested in various barangays and another 85 violators were arrested on June 8.

The violators will be charged for violation of Article 151 of Revised Penal Code for disobedience to persons on authority, in relation to Executive Order No. 35.

The police will file the case in the regular filing.

Pico said BCPO is intensifying its operation to arrest the erring Bacolodnons who are not wearing face masks in public places and those who are not following the physical distancing.

"We are asking the cooperation of everybody to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Always wear your mask and observe the social distancing,” he said.
