TWO policemen on a motorcycle were injured after they hit a Ceres Liner bus along the national highway of Barangay 13, Victorias City in Negros Occidental Monday, February 11.

Wounded were Police Officers 1 (PO1) Jay Española, 26, of Pontevedra town; and PO1 Radney Vergara, 26, of Hinigaran town.

Both are under the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit in Iloilo City, deployed in the province for their Basic Internal Security Operations Course.

Senior Inspector Joy Ellaga, deputy city police chief, said the victims were on their way home from their duties at Victorias City Police Station when they figured in an accident past 9 a.m.

Ellaga said the victims were tailing the bus when they hit the rear portion of the vehicle after it stopped due to a separate road accident involving two motorcycles.

The victims did not see the bus because of too much smoke from the burning sugarcane plantation, she added.

It caused them zero visibility on the road, she said.

Both police officers sustained injuries and were rushed to a private hospital in Bacolod City.

Bus passengers and the driver were unharmed. (GYM)
