TWO drowning victims were found in Calatrava town and San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, June 19.

The body of Romeo Era, 31, of Barangay Bandila in Toboso town, was fished out from the sea waters off Barangay Suba in Calatrava around 6:30 a.m.

Fisherman Gilbert Villaquatro told the police that while he was fishing, he saw a floating object from afar.

Curious of what he saw, Villaquatro came near it and learned that it was a body of a man, the police said.

He asked for help from other fishermen to bring the body to the shore. The body was later identified to be that of Era.

Initial investigation showed that Era did not sustain any injury.

Several minutes later, the body of Jesus Navalis was also found 500 meters off the shorelines of Barrio Dos in Barangay Guadalupe, San Carlos City.

Navalis, 70, of Sitio Tinurongan in the city's Barangay Quezon, was last seen fishing the night before he was found dead by his fellow fishermen.

The cause of death of Navalis is yet to be determined, San Carlos City Police Station Deputy Chief Ruby Aurita said.
