Ronald O. Reyes

AUTHORITIES arrested two individuals after they were found carrying suspected “shabu” worth P1,050,000 at a checkpoint along the national highway of Barangay District III, Babatngon, Leyte on Thursday afternoon, October 27, 2022.

The suspects were identified as Reynante Ordoña, 53, jobless, and listed as a high-value individual; and Marlito Dollete, 49, single, and listed as a street-level individual of Carigara Municipal Police Station.

Both are residents of Barangay Guindaponan in Carigara, Leyte.

Operating units from Babatngon Municipal Police Station led by Lieutenant Rommel Copino, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, flagged down the motorcycle of the suspects around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

As the driver failed to present any driver’s license, his companion was also acting suspiciously and hiding something bulky in front of his private part, according to the police.

Later on, the suspect voluntarily yielded the box, and upon verification, it contained three big pieces of transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance of suspected “shabu,” with an estimated weight of 150 grams.

The suspects will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
