THIRTY-TWO of the 61 barangays in Bacolod City have been declared "Covid-free" for the past 14 days, said Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF).

These barangays are 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 31, 32, 33, 34, 36, 37, 38, 41, Felisa and Montevista.

Sorongon said that in the next four days, five other barangays will also be declared "Covid-free" because the remaining Covid-19 patients from these places are expected to recover.

He said these are Barangays Barangays 12, 17, 18, 35 and Singcang-Airport.

He added the barangays with the highest number cases of Covid-19 are Barangays Mansilingan, Handumanan, Estefania, Villamonte, Bata, Mandalagan, Alijis Tangub, Granada and Banago.

Sorongon said these barangays are maybe top 10 in the barangay trends, but their cases (Covid-19) are close contacts, locally stranded individuals, authorized persons outside residence, and symptomatic and probables, which means these are controlled cases.

"Because there are some municipalities and cities in Negros Occidental that they account these top 10 barangays as hot spots. They are in the top 10, but these cases are controlled," Sorongon said.

The EOC was also conducting dialogues with various barangays to fight Covid-19.

Sorongon said they are expecting that by December 14, Bacolod might have at least less than 100 active cases for Bacolod City.

"But these particular numbers should not let our fellow Bacolenos be complacent. We should follow the health protocols," he said.

As of December 9, Bacolod City has a total of 5, 475 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 5, 131 patients recovered, 175 active cases and 168 deaths.
