ABOUT seven barangays in Bacolod City are set to receive new ambulances from the national government office.

Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya said Tuesday, June 18, the Department of Health (DOH) informed him that this year, there will be seven ambulances for the city.

He said the procurement of the ambulances were already included in 2019 budget.

These will be distributed to the seven barangays with no ambulance vehicle such as barangays Handumanan, Felisa, Cabug, Mansilingan, Banago, Tangub, and Pta. Taytay.

“I submitted this proposal to the DOH because there is a need to improve the health services in our barangays, especially to those barangays that do not have an ambulance,” Gasataya said.

He said the ambulances, which cost P2.5 million each, will be turned over by the DOH soon.

He added in all regions, only Bacolod City will receive seven ambulances for this year.

Once it will be turned over to the barangays, Gastasaya said it’s the responsibility of the barangay to maintain the ambulance. (MAP)

WHERE’S THE WATER? Water is sparse at the Jaclupan wellfield in Talisay City in this photo provided by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) on Friday, April 26, 2024. Completed in 1998, MCWD’s Jaclupan facility, officially known as the Mananga Phase I Project, catches, impounds and pumps out around 30,000 cubic meters of water per day under normal circumstances. However, on Friday, MCWD spokesperson Minerva Gerodias said the facility’s daily production had plummeted to 8,000 cubic meters per day, or just about a quarter of its normal capacity, as Cebu grapples with the effects of the drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to persist until the end of May. The facility supplies water to consumers in Talisay City and Cebu City. /
