A FAMILY of seven, including a one-year-old, were injured after a military truck of the 303rd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army reportedly hit a multi-cab in Barangay Lopez Jaena in Murcia, Negros Occidental on Sunday, February 10.

The victims were the Opliario family, namely, Romeo, 77; Elina, 44; Rhea, 50; Theamae, and Ariel, a driver; Norland Malagan, 33; and the minor-child, whose name was withheld.

Chief Inspector Roberto Indiape Jr., town police chief, said a truck driven by Technical Staff Sergeant Bonifacio Silvano was tailing the multi-cab.

The truck, however, hit the multi-cab when it suddenly lost its brakes.

The truck loaded with military supplies, then hit another vehicle boarded by four persons, which was parked at the roadside. But nobody was hurt.

Only the passengers at the multi-cab sustained minor injuries and were rushed to a hospital.

Indiape said both vehicles were on a normal speed because there’s an ongoing road rehabilitation on the area.

Silvano is under police custody while he’s being assisted by a representative from the Philippine Army for a possible settlement with the other party. (GYM)
