FOUR persons, including a one-year-old child, were injured after an ambulance hit a dump truck along the national highway of Rafael Salas Drive in Barangay Sampinit at Bago City, Negros Occidental early Friday.

Wounded were Valladolid residents Milandro David, 54, patient; his one-year-old daughter; and Diana Traba, all three were on the ambulance.

Also injured was ambulance driver Ramil Buhisan, 46, of San Enrique town.

Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue Jr., deputy chief for administration of Bago City Police Station, said the ambulance was on its way to Bacolod City from Valladolid town at 3:10 a.m. to transfer the patient to another hospital.

The ambulance tried to overtake the dump truck it was tailing but instead, it hit the vehicle’s rear portion. The truck was driven by Vic Puedan, 46, of Pulupandan town.

The ambulance swerved to the opposite lane and fell on the canal after the driver lost control over the vehicle.

Trigue said it took several minutes to pull out Buhisan because he got stuck at the driver’s seat.

All victims sustained injuries and were brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
