BRIGADIER General Benedict Arevalo, commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade (IB) based in Minoyan, Murcia, confirmed that the New People’s Army (NPA) in Negros now has a new leader.

Arevalo said the local NPA rebels are now being led by Rogelio Posadas who took over after NPA leader Ka Frank Fernandez was arrested.

He added that Posadas leads the rebels based in the neighboring islands of Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor.

The 303IB commander added they are now conducting military operations against Posadas and assured the public’s safety.

Fernandez was arrested earlier this year in Laguna after the army and police tracked down his location.

The NPA leader has since been placed under hospital arrest at an army hospital at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City, Metro Manila. (TDE)
