THE Bacolod City Council has approved a resolution supporting the School Heads Academy program of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Western Visayas.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Renecito Novero, was approved during the regular session of the City Council Wednesday, October 20.

Novero, the chairperson of the City Council committee on education, said the program is intended to produce qualified teachers for the principal’s test.

He said the program also aimed at creating a national qualifying examination for qualified scholars within the 20 schools division offices of Western Visayas.

“There are qualified teachers in Bacolod City for the program and they will enroll in state universities in order to prepare them for the principal’s test,” Novero added.

The city councilor disclosed that qualified teachers will need financial assistance for their tuition fees.

Meanwhile, the City Council also expressed its support in the establishment of farm schools at Sum-ag National High School and Alangilan National High School.

The farm schools will need farm implements for their operation, Novero added.
