Bashed vice governor asks other political backers to maintain high-level campaign

"CAMPAIGN for your candidates, we will campaign for ours."

This was the reaction of Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer to online bashers who criticized him and other provincial officials for supporting the tandem of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

The tandem’s UniTeam is set to arrive in Bacolod City on Wednesday, February 23, for a grand rally and caravan at the Reclamation Area.

Ferrer said since he announced that he is supporting the candidacy of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio dubbed as BBM-Sara tandem for president and vice president, respectively, he has been bashed on social media.

"There is no respect anymore (and) it seems that they are the only ones who are right,” the vice governor lamented.

“Don't we have freedom anymore?” the vice governor asked, adding that he just ignored the bashers.

Ferrer said he will not engage with them in a street and gutter language as he assured that, "We will campaign on a professional level."

Ferrer earlier announced that the UniTeam will hold a caravan and grand rally in the city where they are expecting a crowd of 70,000 to 80,000.

"It will be show of force of their supporters here in Negros Occidental," he said, adding that it will be a venue for Marcos and Duterte-Carpio to lay down their platform of government to Negrenses.

As to the claim of some sectors that Negros Occidental is a "pink country," Ferrer said that those who say this are supporters of the other candidates identified with that color.

"We are not claiming that Negros is BBM-Sara country. We are just doing everything to support our candidates," he pointed out.

"On Wednesday, we will show them how many Negrenses will support BBM- Sara," Ferrer added.

He also said there are others who may not make it but have sent word that they will be supporting the leading presidential and vice-presidential bets.

"We limited the participants to nearby areas like the Third and Fourth Districts and those from Bacolod City," he added.
