Benitez: Covid reduced to ordinary flu

Teresa D. Ellera

"IT HAS now been reduced to an ordinary flu."

This was what Negros Occidental Provincial economic consultant Alfredo Benitez said Wednesday, February 16, 20 referring to coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

"Our vaccination has been proven that if you are hit by Covid-19 you will not be hospitalized or suffer severe and critical symptoms," Benitez said, adding that others who are symptomatic can even complete a 10-kilometer jog as if they are not positive for the virus.

He said theme parks and establishments that require more people "should slowly start getting back."

Benitez is also in favor of lifting the curfew in the province saying that, "Covid-19 will not stop even if there is a curfew."

Meanwhile, the former congressman said that everyone should move to normalcy and live with the Covid-19 as it will not go away.

"I think we should also start going back to how we used to live. We should go back to our normal lives," Benitez said.

Benitez said that he believes that we are now at the tail-end of the pandemic.

They are now talking about a shift from pandemic to endemic, he added.*
