THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Bacolod City will get another brand new fire truck from the national government.

City Fire Marshal Publio Plotena said Monday, February 10, that he will be in Manila Tuesday along with the city officials led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to attend the turnover ceremony at Camp Aguinaldo to be led by President Rodrigo Duterte.

He said it’s part of the modernization program of the Duterte administration for the BFP.

Plotena noted that nationwide, a total of 80 fire trucks will be turned over today to various BFP offices in the country.

“We are thankful to the national government especially to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the BFP’s officials who facilitated for [the release of] these new fire trucks,” Plotena said.

He said Western Visayas will get eight new fire trucks and six of which for Negros Occidental.

“We are one of the recipients of this project and it’s a big help for us,” he said.

He added that presently, they have more than 10 fire trucks including in the BFP’s sub-stations in Lopez Jaena, Libertad Street, Rodriguez Avenue, Barangay Granada, Pahanocoy, and Sum-ag.

Plotena disclosed that he’s also proposing to have additional sub-stations in the area of Mandalagan, Banago, and Handumanan, but they need lot donations for these projects. (MAP)
