Bizman shot dead in Bacolod

A BUSINESSMAN was shot to death by two unidentified persons on motorcycle at Corner 17th Street, B.S Aquino Drive, Barangay 7, Bacolod City Friday evening, July 13, 2019.

Police identified the fatality as Ernest Baker, 67, of Barangay 7, Bacolod City.

Police Captain Leo Estopa, chief of Police Station 2, said Sunday, July 14, the victim was either on his way home or was heading to buy a medicine in a drug store when unidentified assailants fired at him at about 8 p.m.

The victim sustained wounds on his head and was brought to a hospital, but he did not survive.

Police recovered from the scene of the crime a slug and empty cartridge of .45 caliber, while the suspects, both wearing shorts, fled.

Estopa said that before the incident, Baker, who has an antique business in Bacolod, attended a zumba dance along the B. S Aquino.

ìHis activities were probably monitored by the suspects, itís a well-planned to kill him in the area,î he said.

The police are eyeing personal grudge or business related as possible motives in the killing of the victim.

Estopa said they are still conducting further investigation and they are coordinating with the family of the victim.

He said they are also waiting for the copy of the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera in the area to identify the perpetrators.
