Brothers nabbed for illegal guns

TWO brothers were arrested for illegal possession of firearms at Barangay Manlucahoc in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Saturday, May 26.

Collared were Rolly Renojo, 61, and Edgardo Renojo, 57, both residents of Barangay 2.

Chief Inspector Nazer Canja, said the elder Renojo allegedly shot 27-year-old John Philip Monido, a security guard, who is also his nephew.

The victim was not hit after the suspect's wife grabbed the firearm. The suspect fled.

Police recovered from the scene a cartridge case of .45 caliber.

Hot pursuit operation led to the apprehension of the elder Renojo and his younger brother, who both yielded a .38 caliber loaded with six cartridges, and a .45 caliber with a magazine and loaded with six cartridges.

Canja said they are eyeing land conflict as the motive of the incident.

Charges for illegal possession of firearms will be filed on Monday, May 28 against the two brothers while the elder Renojo has an additional case of attempted homicide. (GYM)
