THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental welcomes applicants who are interested in a two-year study and part-time work in a newspaper delivery company in Japan.

Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson met with Japanese coordinator Fumio Mizuno at the Provincial Capitol Wednesday, February 13, to discuss scholarship agreements with the Cooperative Association for Yomiuri Shinbun Distribution Service based in Japan.

Twelve slots will be provided for the said scholarship, which will be finalized in August this year; qualified scholars will leave for Japan in March 2020.

Applicants must be 18 to 26 years old; college graduate or undergraduate.

Qualified applicants will be required to take up three months of Japanese Language Training Course at the Oisca Training Center in Bago City.

At present, there are already 50 Negrense scholars who have availed of scholarship grants of different categories in Japan such as the Miyakonojo Higashi High School Scholarship Grant, Kyushu Japanese Language School Scholarship Grant, Japanese Language and Care workers Scholarship Program, among others.

Also present during the meeting were Executive Assistant to the Governor Yoji Watanabe, Executive Assistant to the Vice Governor Jonathan Lobaton, Negros Occidental Scholarship Program head Karen Dinsay, and Community Affairs officer April Duran.

The Japanese scholarship programs were initiated by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. with the aim of producing qualified professional and skilled Negrenses to work in Japan after it opened its doors and started to accept Filipino students and workers.
