BACOLOD City Councilor Bartolome Orola, one of the planners of the proposed Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival, said they are looking to break a Guinness Book of World record insofar as Chicken Inasal is concerned.

"That is what we hope to achieve on the forthcoming festival set on May 5. They planned to hold it from San Sebastian to Araneta Streets, up to the replica of the Government Center,” he said.

The ordinance establishing yearly festivities to be known as the Manokan Country Inasal Festival in the City of Bacolod was authored by Councilor Em Ang.

The staging of the annual Inasal Festival in the city is seen to promote the chicken inasal industry.

The festival aims to establish the ownership of the intangible cultural heritage of the chicken inasal as a Bacolod original.

Chicken inasal is skewered chargrilled or roasted chicken, marinated in a mixture of lime, pepper, vinegar, and annatto then grilled over hot coals while basted with the marinade, an original recipe that originated from Bacolod, and has since become an icon of Bacolod City.

From its previous budget of P500,000, the present planners have proposed P2 million wherein the funds shall be managed by the special committee and subject to liquidation based on the proper accounting and auditing procedures.
