Cops secure Bacolod bus terminals

DUE to family feud on management of Vallacar Transit, Inc. (VTI), several policemen were deployed to the terminals which were operated by the Yanson Family in Bacolod City to ensure the safety of its passengers.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Monday, July 15, 2019 that Police Colonel Henry Binas, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), informed him that on Sunday, July 14, 2019 about 30 policemen were deployed at North Terminal, eight personnel at South Terminal, and eight at the Ceres main office in Barangay Mansilingan.

He said the policemen, who were assigned for 24 hours, will stay in said areas until the issue will be normalized.

On Sunday, hundreds of passengers were affected after about 40 Ceres bus drivers were allegedly brought to the Ceres compound in Barangay Mansilingan upon the orders of the new management led by Roy Yanson.

On July 7, the Board of Directors of VTI, Bachelor Express Inc., Rural Transmit Mindanao Inc., Sugbo Transit Express Inc., and Mindanao Star Business Transit Inc. announced the appointment of Roy as the new president of the five companies replacing his younger brother Leo Rey, who also refuses to step down.

Roy was designated to the post by his siblings Ricardo, Emily, and Ma. Lourdes Celina Lopez during their special board meeting, while Leo Rey was supported by his mother, Olivia, and sister Ginnette Yanson Dumancas.

“Our priority here is to ensure that no untoward incident will happen in the terminals. As long as the peace and order is observed that is our interest. It’s a matter now of management and style or prerogative so we cannot do anything about it,” Leonardia said.

Meanwhile, the mayor also believes that the lot donation of the Yanson Family to the City Government for the construction of South Public Terminal, Bacolod museum and coliseum will not be affected by its family conflict.

“We believe that our donation was a perfected contract so it should stand as it is and besides all the family members had signed that document,” Leonardia said.
