Couple injured in shooting

A COUPLE was injured after they were shot by an unidentified assailant at Barangay Sikatuna in Isabela, Negros Occidental Thursday afternoon.

Police identified the victims as farmer Joaquion Baynon, 52, and his wife Marlyn, 50, both residents of the village.

Senior Inspector Randy Babor, chief of Isabela Municipal Police Station, said the couple, along with their child, was on their way home when an unidentified man waylaid them at about 1 p.m.

He said the suspect fired at them and took the couple’s wallet and fled. The couple sustained multiple injuries while their child was unhurt.

The couple was brought to the Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital and later transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Police recovered from scene an empty shell of 12 gauge shotgun.

Babor said they are still conducting further investigation to identify and arrest the suspect. (MAP)
