A DEAD baby girl was found wrapped in a plastic at a sugarcane plantation in Barangay Nagasi, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 2.

Lt. Colonel Lowell Garinganao, chief of La Carlota City Police Station, said they don’t have the lead yet as to the identity of the baby’s mother.

Laborers Arjie Amparado, 33, and Regie Vargas, 23 both residents of the barangay’s Hacienda Camile told the police said that they were passing the area on their way to work earlier that day when they smell a foul odor inside the sugarcane plantation but they ignored it.

Later in the afternoon, as they passed the area again, they decided to cut shrubs behind a huge rock and saw a white plastic bag, the duo said.

When they opened it, they were shocked to see the head of a dead infant prompting them to call for barangay officials.

For her part, barangay midwife Rhodora Rizardo said the umbilical cord of the baby was cut while the body is already in a state of decomposition.

The investigation for the identity of the mother of the dead child is still ongoing.*
