Dengue claims 14 Negrense lives

DENGUE fever had already caused the death of 14 persons in Negros Occidental this year, based on the latest monitoring by the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD).

Based on the DOH-CHD 11th morbidity week, the province currently has the highest number of dengue-related deaths in Western Visayas.

Aklan and Iloilo City follow with three recorded cases; Capiz has two; and Bacolod City has one.

Dengue cases in the region have reached 4,347 as of March 16. The number of cases has increased by 142 percent compared to the 1,794 cases and 11 fatalities recorded in the same period last year.

Negros Occidental recorded a 98-percent increase with 1,450 cases compared to 733 over the same period in 2018. (TDE)
