THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Bacolod City has vowed timely completion of infrastructure projects in the city.

This, after the Malacañang earlier ordered the government agencies to ensure the timely completion of infrastructure projects.

It issued a Memorandum Circular 57 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on February 7, stating that all heads, concerned officials and employees of departments, bureaus, government-owned and controlled corporations, government financial institutions, state universities, and colleges and local government units shall strictly observe the laws, issuances, and policies pertaining to timely completion of government infrastructure projects.

The policies include the imposition of appropriate sanctions for violations committed.

Bacolod City District Engineer Abraham Villareal said Tuesday, February 19, they are almost done with implementing the unfinished projects from the previous years.

"We have some pending works which were affected by out of control issues and concerns which cannot be resolved by ourselves so we have to suspend the works for the meantime," he said.

He added they are doing their best to ensure the timely completion of infrastructure projects in Bacolod.

Villareal said this year, DPWH has around P1.3 billion budget for various projects in Bacolod.
