A DRUG surrenderer was killed after he was shot by his neighbor in Purok Tinagong Paraiso, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City Monday night, June 3.

Police identified the fatality as Joven Bantillo, 37, of Barangay Banago.

Police Major Ruel Culanag, chief of Police Station 3, said Bantillo, a drug surrenderer, sustained wound on his back after he was shot by his neighbor Rolando Permano, 29, using unidentified firearm around 6:30 p.m.

Before the incident, a heated argument ensued between Bantillo and Permano, said Culanag.

Bantillo was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but he did not survive. The suspect fled.

Culanag said Permano is also identified as a drug personality within his area of jurisdiction, adding the police are eyeing illegal drugs as possible motive in the killing of the victim.

He said they are still conducting a follow-up operation to arrest the suspect.
