EDC donates ambulance to Barangay Mailum, Bago City

GEOTHERMAL leader Energy Development Corporation (EDC) recently turned over an ambulance to its primary partner community, Barangay Mailum in Bago City, Negros Occidental to enable it to provide better and more efficient services to its constituents.

Based on barangay statistics, about 4-6 patients on a weekly basis are brought to the nearest health station or hospital for immediate medical care using the barangay's Canter truck or Barangay Captain Ike Torres' own vehicle, if it's not available.

"I wrote a letter of request to EDC on behalf of our barangay for them to donate an emergency transport vehicle that we can use for emergency patients," said Torres.

In his acceptance speech, Torres thanked EDC for the untiring support it has extended to the barangay over the years.

"EDC has been unceasing in their assistance to the barangay all these years. In return, EDC can be assured of my unwavering support and that of our entire barangay."

The project is a part of EDC's community upliftment program for its host barangays in Negros Island where it has been supplying clean, renewable, reliable geothermal power 24/7 for over 30 years.
