EXCURSION activities in the town of Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental are scheduled to resume Monday, April 26, 2021, after the one-week moratorium for tourists expires.

Don Salvador Benedicto town Mayor Marxlene Dela Cruz, said activities such as swimming, camping, trainings, rides, seminars, camping and hiking will be allowed to resume.

Dela Cruz explained he had to declare a one-week travel moratorium in the town to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Don Salvador Benedicto is the only local government unit in the province to maintain a zero Covid-19 transmission in the past few weeks even though Negros Occidental was experiencing a second wave in the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Dela Cruz said the reason for the town's success may be due to factors such as local residents fully cooperating with authorities by practicing proper health protocols.

Another reason for the zero Covid-19 cases was due to the limited gatherings in town, pointing out the town only had one market day a week and every barangay in town had its own market day schedule.
