Grudge eyed in killing of barker

Merlinda A. Pedrosa

GRUDGE is the possible motive in the killing of a barker who was shot dead in Barangay 2, Bacolod City past 8 p.m. Monday, November 8.

Police Lieutenant Jonito Pastrana, deputy commander of Police Station 2, said this is evident in the manner of how Aljun Rey Jarabilo was killed.

Jarabillo, 22, of Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, was on his bicycle when the gunman came from nowhere, shot him and fled on foot, Pastrana said.

The victim succumbed to a gunshot wound on the head on the way to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, he said.

Police recovered from the crime scene an empty shell of an unidentified firearm, Jarabillo's bicycle and a ball cap.

Pastrana said they are also validating whether the incident is related to the killing of Renalyn Maming, 23, of La Castellana town, Negros Occidental, on November 3.

Maming, a commercial sex worker, was shot dead by an unidentified assailant on board a motorcycle at the city's Reclamation Area.

Pastrana said they found out that before Maming was killed, there was a heated argument between her and Jarabilo.

Aside from working as a barker, Jarabillo reportedly is also a pimp at the Bacolod Public Plaza, the police official said.

Jarabilo has no criminal records in Bacolod City Police Office as per validation of the authorities.
