THE mother of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who hails from Bago City, Negros Occidental is asking for help after her daughter was allegedly locked up alone by her employers in a stock room in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In an interview with Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, Anita Cauntoy, mother of Edrelyn, said she received a call from her daughter last week telling her about her current situation abroad.

Cauntoy said there has been no problem with the identification cards of her daughter as well as her Visa and passport but she was locked up after her employer learned that her Saudi Arabian identity card has already expired.

Last week, a video uploaded by Edrelyn went viral.

In the video, she was asking assistance from the authorities to help her return to the Philippines.

Her male employer told her that they are processing her papers but there was no assurance about it.

She was not able to eat for a week as she was only given noodles by her employers.

She was also given spoiled rice which she did not eat. She was already feeling ill.

Edrelyn's mother already went to Overseas Workers Welfare Administration to also appeal for help but she has yet to receive any update.

The report already reached the Migrante International, a non-government organization that defends the rights and welfare of OFWs.
