Man hurt in hacking incident in Bacolod

A MAN was injured after he was hacked in Purok Cabugwason, Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City Friday evening, October 23, 2020.

Police identified the victim as Eddie Custodio of Barangay Cabug.

Police Lieutenant Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Police Station 9 led by Lieutenant Gilbert Batiles received a call around 8 p.m. that there was a hacking incident in Purok Cabugwason.

When policemen arrived in the area, they saw the victim lying on the ground with multiple wounds.

Pico said the victim sustained wounds on his forehead, chin and arms when Jimmy Dela Cruz, 46, of Purok Pagsilak, Barangay Atipuluan, Bago City attacked him using a bladed weapon and fled.

The victim was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Pico said the suspect was also arrested in a follow-up operation in Barangay Cabug around 11:30 p.m.

Police recovered from Dela Cruz’s possession an improvised firearm or homemade shotgun loaded with live ammunition.

Police Station 9 is still conducting further investigation to determine the motive of the incident.

Pico said the suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 9 and facing charges for frustrated murder and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
