THE City Council of Bacolod approved the request of Mayor Evelio Leonardia for authority to sign the P164.9-million contract between the City Government and current garbage hauler IPM-Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC) for collection, hauling and disposal of garbage and solid waste management.

The City Council also approved the request of the mayor to sign the P79.6 million contract between the city and the IPM-CDC for the management and operation of sanitary landfill facility in Barangay Felisa.

Councilor Renecito Novero, majority floor leader and chairperson of the City Council committee on education, said Thursday, February 20, that the mayor’s requests were unanimously approved during the regular session of the City Council Wednesday.

He said after the signing of the contract, a copy will be submitted to the City Council again for its ratification.

The proposed contract will be covering the period March 1 to December 31, 2020.

At present, the city government is paying P14.858 million per month for garbage hauling and collection services.
