THE City Government of Bago sees no need to implement an extreme community quarantine or “lockdown” in the locality particularly in areas identified as “hot zones.”

Mayor Nicholas Yulo told SunStar Bacolod that based on their assessment “as far as patients under investigation (PUIs) are concerned, it does not warrant an extreme community quarantine because their self-quarantine will already end on April 4.”

What is currently taking effect in the city is an enhanced community quarantine, which is also being implemented in most cities and towns in the province.

Yulo said they are still meeting on the five persons under monitoring (PUMs) in the city.

“Our PUMs as of 9 a.m. Thursday has drastically gone down to 68 from 155,” he said, adding that many will “graduate” or finish the home quarantine Friday, April 3.

The number of PUIs in the city remains at seven.

“We might become zero in terms of PUI on April 4. All are asymptomatic and will be swabbed Thursday for testing,” Yulo said.

Though, he assured that strict implementation of quarantine measures continues and residents are still urged to stay home.

It can be recalled that the Provincial Incident Management Team, through Resolution No. 2020-01, has recommended to the local chief executives and chairpersons of their Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council the implementation of an extreme community quarantine and declaration of “hot zones” in areas (either streets, puroks or barangays) where at least one (1) Covid-19 positive patient, one PUI, or at least five PUMs.

Data provided by the provincial government showed that Bago City has six “hot zones.”
