Militiaman wounded in Moises Padilla shooting

A MEMBER of Cafgu Active Auxiliary was wounded in a shooting incident at about 7:30 p.m. June 28, 2019 at 12IB Montilla Patrol Base Delta Company, Purok Kasoy, Barangay Montilla, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

The victim was identified as Marty Villarma, 45, and employed as Cafgu Active Auxiliary 12IB based in the same place where the incident happened while the suspect was identified as Adonis Villanueva, 32, of Sitio Tangke, Barangay General Luna, Toboso.

Based on the investigation conducted by the Moises Padilla PNP, witness Martin Villarma said the suspect shot the victim after an argument using the victim's government-issued firearm. Villarma was hit on the left portion of his neck.

The victim was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital at Isabela for medical attention but was further referred to one of the hospitals in Bacolod City.

The suspect fled after the incident, but later surrendered to Police Officer Joliver Estelloso. He also turned over the victim’s firearm, a Glock 17 without magazine.

A witness alleged that the suspect was under the influence of intoxicating liquor. (Teresa D. Ellera)
