GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson has designated the Cadiz City District Hospital as the center for coronavirus (Covid-19).

Lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, said this is in preparation in case Covid-19 cases would spike in the coming days.

As of March 17, Diaz said there are six patients under investigation (PUIs) for Covid-19 in the province who are now confined at the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, while there are 1,072 persons under monitoring (PUMs).

Diaz said the increase of PUMs in the province is due to the returning students in the province from Dumaguete and Negrenses who returned from Manila.

Diaz said Cadiz City District Hospital, which has been upgraded from a 75-bed capacity to 200-bed hospital, is ideal center for Covid-19 because of its location and it has additional rooms which could be used in case.

He also revealed that up to this time, the province has not yet received the results of the specimen from PUIs submitted to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine and that they have been asking the center to hasten the release of the results.
