Negros Occidental imposes stricter travel protocols

Teresa D. Ellera

GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson said stricter health protocols are imposed for people coming into Negros Occidental with the return of flights between Cebu and Bacolod and the height of the Christmas season.

Lacson on Monday, November 30, issued Executive Order 20-52, Series of 2020, extending the modified community quarantine (MGCQ) over the whole province until December 31.

"The province will continue to swab suspected Covid-19 positive cases and constantly remind everyone of the need to follow minimum health standard. The LGUs will be at the forefront," Lacson said.

"We will also suggest that those who are coming home to Negros should do so not later than December 20 if they want to spend Christmas day here," he said.

For those who want to spend New year's day here, "they should come not later than December 27," he added.

The governor said the extension of the MGCQ is a continued deterrent against Covid-19.

Lacson admitted that coronavirus cases have been on the rise in the province.

He said the local government units are dealing with their respective situations.
