NEGROS Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer said Tuesday, July 13, that they will support whatever decision the National Unity Party (NUP) leadership will make, including backing the presidential bid of presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio in the May 9, 2022 elections.

Ferrer, the provincial chairman of NUP, said that ever since, they always obey the decision of the national party.

Ferrer clarified, however, that he has not yet received any communication yet from the national party leadership pertaining to the matter.

He also clarified that in the local party, the United Negros Alliance, the members will have their own choice in so far as elections are concerned especially that this will be a presidential election.

He said the party members belong to different national political parties.

Five national political parties reportedly want an alliance with the Davao regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) as hype grows for the possible presidential candidacy of its chairperson, Duterte-Carpio.

HNP secretary-general Anthony del Rosario identified the five national political parties as Lakas-CMD, led by former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and former House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr.; National Unity Party, led by political strategist Ronaldo Puno; Nacionalista Party, led by former Senate President Manuel Villar Jr.; Pwersa Ng Masa Pilipino, founded by former President Joseph Estrada; and People's Reform Party, founded by the late senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.
