LAWYER Ann Janette Lamban has assumed her post as the new election registrar of Bacolod City on Thursday, February 21.

Lamban, who was from Lapu-Lapu City, replaced the post of Mavil Majarucon-Sia who was also reassigned to Iloilo City.

Lamban said on Friday, February 22, she conducted a meeting with her staff, as well as with Provincial Election Supervisor Milagros Salud Villanueva.

After the meeting, Lamban and other Commission on Elections (Comelec)- Bacolod personnel removed the illegal tarpaulins at B.S Aquino Drive.

“Our candidates, both national and local candidates, should follow the Comelec guidelines in putting their tarpaulins in the designated common poster areas,” she said, adding that “they will continue their monitoring in various barangays.”

Comelec-Bacolod will also hold a seminar and training for the members of electoral board for the midterm polls in May.

“We will train the chairman and the poll clerk. I am expecting that the elections, as always, will be successful,” Lamban said.

Lamban said she is adjusting with the new environment, but she is happy to be in the city.

Bacolod City has a big number of registered voters totaling to 312,000.

The figure is bigger than that of Lapu-Lapu City with 200,000 voters, she noted.

The new election registrar is also set to meet Bacolod City Police Office officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas to discuss the security preparations for the upcoming May 13 elections. (MAP)
