Over P129,000 ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod City

AN ESTIMATED P129,200 worth of substance believed to be shabu was seized in separate drug bust operations in Bacolod City over the weekend.

The operations also led to the arrest of Robert Canesares, 33, of Purok Rojas, Barangay Tangub, and Al June Lopez, 29, of Purok Villa Villeta, Barangay Estefania, all in the city.

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) records showed that Canesares was arrested by operatives of City Drug Enforcement Unit after he sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer in Purok Rojas, Barangay Tangub around 7:59 p.m. Sunday, April 24.

Police recovered from Canesares’s possession eights sachets of shabu weighing 17 grams with estimated market value of P115,600, the P500 marked money, coin purse and P380 cash.

Lopez was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 4 in Purok Chareza 1, Barangay 27 around 2:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police recovered from Lopez’s possession five sachets of shabu weighing two grams with estimated market value of P13,600, the P500 marked money and coin purse.

The police said the suspects were identified as street level individuals in Bacolod City.

They were under surveillance for almost a month before their arrest.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Stations 4 and 8.

They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002.
