THE local government of San Carlos City through the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Office conducted a public hearing at the city auditorium on pedicab fare hike on February 16, 2021.

Members of the San Carlos Pedicab Operators and Drivers Association (Scapoda) requested the city officials to increase the P5 fare rate to P7 for the riding public within the city limit, while another P4 increase to the standard P6 rate for passengers going beyond the city limit.

Some members of the Scapoda said there is a need to increase fare since the last fare hike implemented was in 2012.

SP Member Benito Gustilo Jr, chairman of the Public Utilities and Integrated Land Transport Terminal Committee, said the increase is an overdue request of the pedicab drivers, which was not carried out due to the pandemic.

Present during the said hearing included SP Members Carlos Manuel Valmayor and Philip Gerard Maisog and staff of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Office, PEMS Noven Martin Lacson and Traffic PNCO were present in the said public hearing. (PR)
