THE Bacolod City Council will hold a public consultation on the proposed joint venture agreement (JVA) between the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) and More Power Corporation on Monday, June 5, 2023.

Councilor Claudio Puentevella, chairperson of the City Council committee on energy and public utilities, said Friday, June 2, that they received a request from various groups in the city to hold a public consultation on the proposed JVA of Ceneco and More Power.

He said they invited Ceneco and More Power as well as other groups who are interested for the public consultation.

“Some groups submitted their position papers so we need to address their questions and we will hear the direct answer from Ceneco and More Power,” he added.

Puentevella noted that it’s very important to clarify all the issues against the proposed JVA.

“We will hear the side of More Power so that we can determine what they can offer to improve the power services not only in Bacolod City but also in some cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental that covered by Ceneco,” Puentevella said.

He stressed that it’s also the time to address the massive power interruptions or brownouts.

Puentevella disclosed that he will also ask for a copy of the contract of More Power so they can study it in advance.
