FOR alleged non-payment of revolutionary taxes of its owner, suspected members of the Communist Terrorist Groups burned down P12 million worth of heavy equipment in Candoni town, Negros Occidental over the weekend.

Captain Ronald Santillan, town police chief, said that about ten men armed with long firearms arrived at Purok Magboto in the town’s Barangay Cabia-an at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, November 5.

They then ordered the four workers to lay flat on the ground before they torched the backhoe and the road roller both owned by Silver Dragon Constructions, Santillan said.

He noted that before leaving, one of the suspects told the workers that “katig-a abe ulo sang amo niyo (this is because your boss is hard headed).”

Silver Dragon Construction Incorporated is spearheading the construction of a concrete bridge that would connect Barangay Cabia-an and the town proper.

Aside from the Candoni police, the Bureau of Fire Protection and the 47th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army situated at the town’s Barangay Haba are investigating the incident.
