Senator: Farmers will benefit from ‘rice tax’

REELECTIONIST Senator Cynthia Villar assured people that taxes from imported rice under the Rice Tariffication Law will go to farmers.

Villar, during the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino - Lakas ng Bayan rally in Victorias City on Friday, March 8, said that imported rice will be taxed and that the taxes will be given to farmers through several programs like the trainings and seed production, mechanization and scholarships for the improvement of the production of local farmers.

“We want our farmers to be competitive,” she said.

Villar said that the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Rice Tariffication Law is yet to be completed, which is why the last has not been implemented. (TDE)
